Quand votre logo sera sous torture, êtes-vous certain de ce qu’il révèlera comme information?

Un logo est l’essence même de l’entreprise et se doit de respecter les valeurs de cette dernière même en sa plus faible représentation. Il est intéressant de voir que malgré l’importance de cet outil de communication graphique, le logo est celui qui se fait le plus maltraiter.

Peut importent les politiques que vous instaurez afin de respecter les normes graphiques de votre entreprise, votre logo finira toujours par se faire maltraiter. C’est tout simplement une réalité avec laquelle votre agence de communication graphique doit user de beaucoup de diligence.

Votre logo se doit d’être déclinable, c’est-à-dire qu’il se doit d’être en mesure de communiquer le même message dans sa plus simple expression. Dans les pires circonstances, nous devons être capables de distinguer votre logo et la mission de votre entreprise.

L’art ne veut pas la représentation d’une belle chose mais la belle représentation d’une chose.

Attention, ici je ne suis pas entrain de vous dire de ne pas instaurer des politiques d’utilisation, bien au contraire. Je crois que vous devez le faire. Par contre, étant réaliste je tiens à ce que vous soyez prêts à l’éventuelle mauvaise utilisation de votre logo. Croyez-en mon expérience, cela se fera souvent et plus votre entreprise est grande, plus votre logo sera torturé. Triste, mais vrai.

Pour vous aider j’ai donc décidé de vous donner un de nos trucs. Il est simple, mais très efficace!

Afin de vérifier la déclinaison et la composition de votre logo dans un mauvais état, faxez-vous le. Une fois faxé, votre logo devrait toujours représenter l’image de votre entreprise.

Voici donc une expérience que nous avons faite avec 2 logos. Le premier, le logo du FM 93, une station de radio de Québec qui vient de refaire sont image corporative et, par conséquent, son logo. Le deuxième, un logo pour la Fringale représentant un service de traiteur pour des pique-niques et boîtes à lunch.

Voici donc les deux originaux. Notez bien les différences dans leur composition respective. Le logo du FM 93 comporte beaucoup d’effets en 3 dimensions, des ombrages, des dégradés, etc.

Tandis que l’autre, conçu par Mille Verba, est tout à fait l’opposé. Le seul effet présent se trouve à être les deux couleurs utilisées.

Vous avez donc sous vos yeux, les deux victimes de torture par fax. Je crois que le résultat se passe de commentaires. Voyez comme l’image de marque demeure protégée et sensiblement en bon état pour la Fringale contrairement au FM 93.

Nous aurions pu faire le même test avec tous les grands logos de ce monde tel que Fedex, PEPSI, Coco-Cola par exemple. La résultante aurait été similaire à celle de la Fringale.

C’est aussi économique

Mis à part le fait que votre image de marque soit complètement détruite, utiliser un logo qui se décline mal est également très dispendieux. Vous aurez toujours besoin de plusieurs logos pour vos différentes utilisations car celui que vous avez ne fonctionne pas pour le fax ou pour les envoies électroniques, ou pour ci ou pour cela.

Vous et votre entreprise feront donc face à plus de temps de design, de gestion, de contrôle des politiques graphiques. N’oubliez pas aussi que plusieurs logos veut aussi dire que vous diluerez la reconnaissance de votre image de marque.

Un jour, alors que vous voudrez une enseigne lumineuse pour votre building, vous allez vite réaliser que cette simple enseigne lumineuse est très dispendieuse puisqu’elle comporte différentes textures visuelles.

Donc simple est la clef. Ne vous laissez pas charmer par des représentations 3d avec des ombrages et tout le tralala,  cela vous nuira à court, moyen et long terme.

1. Serif Fonts and Their Peculiarities

Typography obviously belongs to the cohort of the fine arts, where even the smallest details and elements are meaningful and can influence the overall perception of the final creation, whether it is a picture or a text, printed with a particular typeface. J’ai besoin de cartes de Noël, combien ça coûte?

C’est la saison ! Et pour nous, c’est la saison depuis un bon moment ! Alors que les couleurs orange, noir et mauve se déposent au sol, c’est le rouge et le vert qui s’envolent et volent la vedette sur nos petits écrans. Affiches, couriels, cartes postales, brochures et autres pullulent pour la période  des fêtes.

Pour ce faire, plusieurs d’entre nous, clients et graphistes, décident d’opter pour la solution rapide. Il peuvent donc, en un très court laps de temps, produire les maquettes nécessaires pour les fêtes de façon relativement générique. Dans la plupart  des cas, on offre même des solution clés en mains ou on ne fait qu’apposer le logo et un texte proposé par le client. Cette solution répond rapidement au besoin du client, le tout à un prix tout à fait abordable.

Par contre, certaines entreprises, comme Mille Verba, décident de voir cette situation sous un tout autre angle. En fait, en abordant la question des coûts pour les cartes de Noël, nous vous répondrons immédiatement:

Combien de ventes voulez-vous générer?

La raison est très simple. La carte de Noël est un medium de communication et marketing très puissant; il malheureusement sous estimé. Dans près de la totalité des cas, une carte de Noël est envoyé à nos fournisseurs et clients afin de gagner des points de sympathie auprès d’eux. Les cartes sont envoyées dans le but précis de tenter un rapprochement humain entre une entreprise et ses clients ou fournisseurs.

Très rarement, cet effort prend en considération les principes cruciaux de la communication graphique, donc, par le fait même, réduisent considérablement le potentiel de génération de revenus par l’envoi de cartes de Noël.

1. Message transmit par l’aspect graphique.
2. Conséquence du médium sur l’image de marque.
3. Environnement physique et socio-culturel du médium.

Message transmit par l’aspect graphique

Si on veut générer des ventes avec nos cartes de Noël, on se doit de comprendre et d’analyser ce concept. Une erreure à ce niveau peut réduire à zéro tous nos efforts.

Un simple exemple pourrait d’envoyer des symboles de Noël chrétiens quand un bonne portion de notre clientèle est juive. Aussitôt, vous serait condidéré comme une entreprise qui ne prends pas la peine de bien comprendre sa clientèle.

Par ailleur, l’analyse est plus complexe que ça. On se doit de bien déterminé le message que vous voulez transmettre à votre clientèle. Quels sont les base de référence culturels de cette dernière et comment pouvons nous adapter notre médium pour avoir le plus grand impact possible.

Conséquence du médium sur l’image de marque

Vous avez achetez des cartes chez Costco ? Dites vous que vous êtes loin d’être la seule entreprise à l’avoir fait. Pensons un instant à l’effet que ce geste a sur votre image de marque. Rapidement, et généralement inconsciemment, votre client pensera que vous ne vous êtes pas donné la peine pour lui, alors qu’il vous permet de faire vivre votre entreprise. C’est un peu le même sentiment que losque nous n’avons pas nos sacs réutilisables et qu’on nous charge 0.05$ du sac en plastique à l’épicerie quand nous avons une facture de 200.00$.

Tout à une conséquence sur votre image de marque. La qualité du papier, le graphisme, la qualité d’impression, si vous vous êtes donné la peine d’écrire un mot à la main ou non, etc.

En fait, ma suggestion, si vous ne voulez pas dépenser pour vos cartes de Noël, serait d’acheter des cartes qui supporte un organisme de charité et d’écrire un mot personnel à l’intérieur. Vous n’aurez pas un impact majeur, mais du moins votre image de marque en sortira un peu bonifiée.

Environnement physique et socio-culturel du médium

Voici la clé du succès pour une campagne de cartes de Noël. Il s’agit de bien comprendre l’environnement physique ainsi que social où la carte sera affichée.

Contrairement à plusieurs perceptions, je pense que la carte de Noël peut aller chercher un plus large auditoire que la simple personne à laquelle cette dernière est destinée. Pour ce faire, il faut bien comprendre la nature humaine et l’environnement du médium.

Un ami et collaborateur à moi, Pierre Fraser, a largement contribué au développement du principe de l’egocasting:

« [...] glorifier sa propre personne en s’exposant publiquement [...] sachant à l’avance que peu de gens nous écouteront… »

J’ajouterai, « avec le désir/espoir constant qu’une foule de gens nous écoutera…. »

Remettons en contexte l’egocasting avec les cartes de Noël. Pour ce faire je vous propose un exercice très simple.

Première partie:

À partir d’aujourd’hui, jusqu’à Noël, à chaque fois que vous avez une réunion à l’extérieur ou que vous visitez un bureau, prennez quelques instant pour voir si des cartes de Noël sont affichées .

La réponse est oui dans la quasi totalité des cas. La nature humaine est ainsi faite que l’egocasting fait parti de nos gènes.

L’un des plus beaux exemples de ceci est la plateforme Twitter. Selon moi, Twitter doit une grande partie de son succès au mot « follower » (adepte ou admirateur). En procédant ainsi, Twitter touche donc une corde sensible de la nature humaine où la popularité et l’egocasting sont très importants.

Donc, la carte de Noël que vous expédiez à votre fournisseur ou client est probablement l’une des seules publicités qu’il affichera fièrement dans son bureau. Pourquoi ne pas en tirer avantage ? Vous avez entre les mains le pouvoir de publier non seulement à votre client direct, mais également à tous ceux et celles qui passeront dans son bureau. Votre propre « billboard » privé en quelque sorte !

Deuxième partie

Lorsque vous voyez des cartes de Noël affichées, prenez quelques secondes et attardez vous à l’ensemble global (environnement immédiat de notre médium) ainsi qu’à l’individualité des cartes. En faisant ce simple exercice, rapidement vous remarquerez, de bureau en bureau, et parfois dans le même bureau, des cartes identiques. En général, par contre, vous allez rapidement vous apercevoir qu’il y a peu d’entre elles qui se démarquent, et qu’elles forment une sorte de mélange homogène festif.

Voilà donc la raison pour laquelle il vous faut utiliser de stratégies de communications graphiques pour permettre à votre medium publicitaire (votre carte) de se démarquer du lot. En un seul coup d’oeil, votre carte se doit d’attirer l’attention, de transmettre un message, et de bonifier votre image de marque.

De plus, le but ultime est d’ accrocher votre client direct à qui la carte était destiné. Il suffit d’utiliser une bonne stratégie afin que ce dernier, non seulement parle de votre carte, mais également de votre entreprise.

La carte de Noël est un médium sous-estimé, il est donc de votre responsabilité de faire affaire avec des experts afin de maximiser cet effort marketing. Et s’il est fait correctement, il peut vous rapporter gros!
